Bowen Health Clinic opens in Auburn

The opening of a new Bowen Health Clinic in Auburn today offers a one-stop-shop approach to healthcare that can make an immediate positive difference in the lives of DeKalb County residents.

Co-located with the outpatient office at 923 Cardinal Court, the new clinic completes Bowen Center’s move towards integrating physical health care with mental health care and addiction recovery services at all of its clinic sites in northern Indiana.

“I'm really excited about the fact that we are not only adding physical health to mental health services, but we're doing something completely different and very unique,“ said Dr. Siquila Liebetrau, Bowen Center Vice President of Clinical Services. “What we're delivering is integrated health care, and with that model of care, the patient has better outcomes, they live longer, they have better quality of life.”

“We're here today to make that commitment not just to the people we've helped over the years in DeKalb,” said Dr. Rob Ryan, Bowen Center president and CEO. “We know there's a segment of our population that has suffered alone, don't believe that there's anyone out there to help them, and don't believe if they do get help that it's effective. By moving into primary care, we're confident that those people will insteadtell a story about coming to see their primary care doctor, and they got connected to other services that changed their lives.”

“I'm really proud to say that our team approaches treatment with compassion, advocacy, and commitment to providing the best patient experience and delivering quality services,” said Karla Benitez, Director of Bowen Health Clinic – Auburn. “I'm really excited to see how our collaborative efforts help improve the lives of our patients and members of this community.”

Understanding that the integrative healthcare model would improve and extend lives, Bowen Center began adding primary care services at its existing locations in 2020. Area partners who work regularly with the Bowen Health Clinic – Auburn, applauded the move to integrative health.

“Your mind has an incredible impact on your health, and your health has an incredible impact on your mind,” said Jeremiah Otis, Director of Innovation at Fortify Life. “What's so exciting to me is that we're seeing those two things come together right here in this place.”

“The reason that we're here today is that (Bowen) observed another need in the community, and that is a need for a primary health facility, particularly for those who are otherwise involved with their services,” said Judge Adam Swiller, DeKalb County Superior Court 1. “And I would just say… they’re right. There is a need for this, and this health clinic is going to be a wonderful resource to our community.

“One of the things that we do that I think sets us apart from others is the population we intend to focus on most completely,” said Shannon Hannon, Bowen Center COO. “This clinic is open to anyone. We would be happy to serve anyone in need, but we intentionally seek and engage those with an inability to pay or who have a difficult time navigating the healthcare system. Those are our ideal patients. We want to serve them more completely because we have those additional resources, our skills coaches, our therapists, our medical staff to meet their needs in ways that others just don't have the ability to do.”

Bowen Health Clinic welcomes Medicaid, and no one is turned away for an inability to pay. To make an appointment, call (800) 342-5653.
